Uri Calls for Probe Into Profiteering by Builders

The leader of the governing party Monday called for a parliamentary probe into alleged profiteering by local construction companies on the massive construction project of a satellite city in Kyonggi Province.
Kim Geun-tae, chairman of the Uri Party, said it would be necessary for the National Assembly to investigate the alleged profiteering by local construction companies on the construction project in Hwasong, south of Seoul.
``Some of our lawmakers as well as civic group members have claimed that construction companies exaggerated the actual cost of building the satellite city,’’ Kim said. ``Prosecutors should investigate the case first. But if necessary, a parliamentary inspection should be carried out to unearth the truth behind the case.’’
