Welcome to SKPE

  • This blog is a clipping service to aid me in my research on Korean politics. Of course anyone else is free to use it for his or her own research or reading pleasure. If you site anything you see here, please follow the link provided in each post to the original. They did the work and deserve the link/credit. For that reason, SKPE does not accept trackbacks.

About South Korean Politics and Elections

This is the forth blog that I write on (the others being Flying Yangban, The Marmot's Hole and the Republicans Abroad Korea blog - see left column for links).

The main purpose of this blog is for me to have a place to catalog news and information on Korean politics.  With the presidential elections coming up in December 2007 and the National Assembly races following less than six months later, I plan on doing a lot of research and writing on Korean politics and elections.  Since my Korean language skills are weak (that is being generous), I hope to make up for that somewhat by having a large collection of English-language information on hand.

Most of the posts will be simple cut'n pastes of on line newspaper articles.  I will provide links, although they tend to die after a few months.  I hope to update this blog three or four times a week.  I may add some notes and a little bit of analysis, but I will save most of analysis for the other blogs I write on.  This blog is primary a data collection tool.  The inspiration for the format of this blog came from North Korea Economy Watch.  Like at NKEW, the headlines of the posts will be the same as the headlines of the articles.

Real posts will soon follow.
