Several RAK volunteers joined a member of Democrats Abroad to man a non-partisan voter-registration table at AmCham's annual Labor Day picnic. We would like to thank AmCham for giving us a table.
Despite the best efforts of our volunteers (including George Geddes, Lance Lee and Kurt Mohay), we only registered about 20 people. While that was not as many as we had hoped to help, I think we will be able to help many more in 2008 when interest is higher.
The day was warm and sunny. Because we signed on at the last minute our table did not have a shelter, which made our volunteers feel even hotter. We will have to get a tent the next time.
Thanks to our volunteer's efforts, out voter assistance total in now 60-70. While that is much less than what we did in 2004, we need to remember that we have never worked a mid-term election as an organization before.
Here are some pictures:

Lance and Kurt find the one guy at the picnic who is suffering through the heat more than they are. We will have to get one of those tents next time.
