Kang Chol-hwan reception; October 9

(NOTE:  I'm going to keep bumping this to the top until the day of the reception.  Scroll down for some more recent posts.)

As both the regular readers of this blog may know, I have long been interested in the issue of human rights in North Korea.  I am also active in the Korean chapter of Republicans Abroad.

Those two interests will dovetail at a reception with North Korean defector and author Kang Chol-hwan being jointly sponsored by Republicans Abroad and Democrats Abroad:

The Korean chapters of Republicans Abroad and Democrats Abroad proudly sponsor a non-partisan reception and presentation with Kang Chol-hwan former North Korean political prisoner and author of The Aquariums of Pyongyang: Ten Years in the North Korean Gulag.

The reception will take place at Seoul Club on Sunday, October 9. Doors will open for the reception at 6:00 PM and the presentation will begin at 7:00 PM. Admission is 36,000 won.  Food will be served.

That 36,000 won only covers the cost per person of the event site.  In fact, we (or the Chairman of Republicans Abroad, to be specific) are taking a pretty big financial hit on it.  But it is for a worthy cause so nobody is complaining.

If interested, email me and I'll send you payment information.
